October 26th, 2018 -- Basel, Swizterland Finding himself against the always consistent Gilles Simon, Roger battled for just over two and a half hours to earn his spot into the Semifinals in Basel. With yet another slower start, Simon took advantage and quickly took the lead. However, the Swiss star dug in and started making more balls, winning the longer points and coming to the net to fight back and take the first set in a one-sided tiebreak. Simon stayed strong in the second and forced the match to a deciding third set. While he wasn't playing his best, Roger did what he needed to pull of the win and extend his winning streak. The score was 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-4. "It's an absolute pleasure playing on home soil with the crowd supporting me so much. I think they felt like I was in danger, and it was nice that they were there every step of the way." He faces Next Gen player, Daniil Medvedev, in the semifinals.
