Roger into Round of 16 without dropping a set
January 18, 2019 -- Melbourne, Australia
Stepping on the court Friday prepared to face a big serving American, Roger Federer looked unstoppable from the start of his 3rd round match in-front of the Melbourne crowd.
Playing with confidence and swinging freely, Roger had a routine win over Taylor Fritz 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.
The 20-time Grand Slam Champion served well and executed his backhand allowing him to wrap up the win in under 90 minutes.
After the match, Roger stated, “For the time being, it's all good. Lights are on green. I'm injury-free, enjoying myself; the kids are having a great time too on the tour; my wife's happy. So for the moment there is absolutely no complaints and no plans. I'm just happy where I am in my life, in my career right now.”
Next up will be the young Greek player, Stefanos Tsitsipas -- the two met a couple weeks ago at the Hopman Cup in a close battle that Roger took 7-6, 7-6.
