In his first tournament back since the Australian Open, Roger took to the court in winning style against Philipp Kohlschreiber.
The German veteran provided a competitive first round pushing the Swiss star to three sets. Having never lost to him before, Roger won the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
In Dubai, Roger will be looking to capture his 100th ATP singles title and his 8th title in Dubai.
Roger will face another veteran in the next round, Fernando Verdasco.
