March 17, 2019 -- Indian Wells, CA

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Roger took the court to face Austrian, Dominic Thiem in the finals of the BNP Paribas Open, looking to win his 6th title in Indian Wells. After an electric Women's Final, the Men's Final did not disappoint and was just as thrilling.

With both players battling hard and playing strong, the match went to a deciding third set where Roger looked to have the upper hand looking to break for the match. But the Austrian was not done and came out firing holding his serve and going on to break Roger to serve for the match. With his blistering groundstrokes, Thiem held on to take the match and win his first Masters 1000 Tournament, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5

“I'm happy for Dominic, winning his first Masters 1000, as well. It's a massive event to win,” Roger said. “I just got my 100th in Dubai, and I had a good week here. Really, there is no reason to get down. Plus there is more to look forward to in Miami.”

Next up for Roger will be the Miami Open where he will be the fourth seed and looking for his fourth title there.

"The body is perfectly fine. That also always keeps me upbeat, and I feel it's a privilege when I feel this way leaving a tournament,” Roger said. “I have been playing every single day for the past three weeks. I can be very happy and proud of that fact. I feel really good, so why shouldn't I go into the tournament and to the event confident?”
