Roger reaches 4th round at Roland Garros
May 31, 2019 -- Paris, France
The Swiss veteran faced off against 20-year old, NextGen player, Casper Ruud, today in the third round. Going into the match, Roger mentioned he was more familiar with Ruud's father, Christian, rather than his son as they played together on tour from 1999-2001.
While Ruud stayed fairly close with Roger, he just didn't have enough experience to hurt the 20-time Grand Slam Champion.
Roger won the match 6-3, 6-1, 7-6(8) and marches on to the 4th round.
This win means Roger (at 37 years and 305 days old) has set yet another record, becoming the oldest man to make the fourth round at the French Open since Nicola Pietrangeli in 1972.
