July 5, 2019 -- Wimbledon, UK

Eight-time Wimbledon Champion took the court against a local favorite Thursday afternoon.

Facing the 20-year old Wildcard entrant from the UK, Jay Clarke, Roger looked to be in routine form on the grass as he took the first set in under 30 minutes. He was tested in the second set by the 169th ranked player, but came away with another win pro-pulsing him into the next round.

The 37-year old won the match 6-1, 7-6(3), 6-2.

"I really enjoyed myself. The tank is full -- I came here with a lot of confidence -- the first few matches haven't been very taxing physically," said Roger.

He advances to play Lucas Pouille in the third round.
