Roger welcomed a packed arena of fans on Monday as he hosted Andy Murray for their exhibition match to raise money for the Roger Federer Foundation. 

The sold out crowd was energized to watch the ATP world No. 1 and No. 4 compete for a good cause. The match kicked off with beautiful dancers taking to the court in a cirque-esque display before the players were introduced and interviewed by the hosts.

In what seemed to be a standard performance for Roger in 2017, he jumped out to a quick lead and won the first set 6-3. Keeping the vibe entertaining, the players exchanged laughs and interacted with the crowd as they competed. The second set was close and went to a tie-break where Murray even offered a ballboy his racquet to serve match point down against the Swiss star. Roger ended up clinching the match 6-3, 7-6 (6).

The Roger Federer Foundation supports educational projects located in the region of southern Africa and Switzerland. The programs on the African continent focus on the improvement of the quality of early learning and basic education and in Switzerland on the promotion of extra-curricular activities for children affected by poverty. All activities are realized and implemented by local non-governmental authorities in close collaboration with the local communities. In order to evaluate our impact we measure the changes in the levels of supported children's performance, rate repetitions, absences or enrollment rates.

Roger looks to take the coming weeks off from competition to prepare for the French Open. "I'll be resting most of the time and the body needs a rest. I can feel it. It's not the youngest body but everything is good. I'm gonna enjoy my time with the family." Roger added, "Eventually I'm gonna get back to practice, and when I do, I'm gonna go full steam, and I should be back for the French Open. That's the plan."

There will be another chance to watch Roger compete and raise funds for his Foundation at the end of the month in Seattle where he will take the court with John Isner and Bill Gates on April 29th. Learn more about the Match for Africa 4 here.
