Roger solidified his dominance today in the Nitto ATP Finals as he swept his 3rd match in the Boris Becker Group. Facing Marin Cilic, Roger remained dominant and wowed the crowd with his aggressive play clinching the match 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1. He even nailed an 100 MPH forehand return proving how confident he is playing this week.
“I played very well so really happy to be playing at this level right now,” Roger said. “It wasn't easy. I mean, look, it's a fast court. It's indoors. We've seen it now: when you miss a few too many opportunities, you can really pay the price at this tournament. So we've seen some swings of momentum in a lot of the matches this week."

Roger solidified his spot in the Nitto ATP Finals after battling against Alexander Zverev. The Swiss was able to hang tight and dictate points as he moved the young German player around the court. He felt more confident reading his forehand compared to when they last met in Montreal. After two close sets, Roger dominated the 3rd to earn his spot into the semifinals 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-1.
This will be his 14th appearance in the ATP Final semifinals. Roger has collected 12 consecutive wins which includes seven indoor victories.
“I'm extremely happy. It's been a tough group so to be there in two matches is great,” Federer said. “But today was difficult. Still early days in the tournament. It was nice to be able to show maybe that quality of mine, that I can dig out these matches, these points time and time again, stay mentally tough. In the third I started to play better. It was a tough match from the beginning till the end.”
