May 11, 2019 -- Madrid, Spain Despite the loss to one of the most talented players on tour, Roger is feeling confident on clay at the moment. The 20-time Grand Slam Champion started strong and kept his level high against Dominic Thiem in the Quarterfinals at Madrid. The Austrian fought off match points to take the match 3-6, 7-6(11), 6-4. A day later, Roger took to social media to announce he will be making his way to Italy next week to compete. Roger hasn't played in Rome since 2016 and will be excited to take the court here on clay and use it for more experience before this year's French Open.
