July 10, 2017 -- Wimbledon, England
After today's win, Roger reaches the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon for the 15th time in his career.
Monday at the All England Club wasn't at all manic for the Swiss Maestro as he made quick work over Grigor Dimitrov with his all-court display. With speed and ease, he had little problems holding serve and took advantage of the Bulgarian's mistakes. Serving strong and his outstanding net play earned him the 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 win.
This will be Roger's 50th Grand Slam Quarterfinal, which is the highest number of quarterfinal appearances in the Open Era. The 7-time Wimbledon Champion will face Milos Raonic next (which is who took him out last year). Raonic has dealt with injuries this season and was pushed to 5 sets in his Round of 16 match against Alexandr Zverev.
“I can look at this quarterfinal in a totally relaxed fashion. Physically I'm not fighting anything like last year with my knee. I'm ready to go this afternoon if I have to, which is great, but I don't have to. I think that's a great bonus,” Roger said. “Then again, the best players are left in the draw. It's going to be a tough one. I'm aware of that. That's why I can't think too far ahead. I think it's going to be a tough finish to this tournament.”
