Professional tennis is back! And Roger decided to begin his 2019 season at the Hopman Cup representing Switzerland with Belinda Bencic.

Always a fun atmosphere, the crowd was excited to catch a glimpse of the Swiss Star as Team Switzerland took on Team Great Britain.

Roger had no problems winning his first match 6-1, 6-1 against 90th ranked Cameron Norrie. Then in mixed doubles, the Swiss duo earned another win 4-3, 4-1 with a 3-0 sweep over the British team.

Next up for Switzerland will be Team USA which puts Roger against NextGen player, Frances Tiafoe and a mix doubles matchup against Serena.

November 17, 2018 -- London, UK

Saturday's match in the O2 Arena was not just another semifinal for Roger. It was an opportunity to get into the Finals and win his 100th ATP Title and 11th Nitto ATP Final. Amongst that pressure, Roger also faced a player who has been on fire all week, Alex Zverev. 

The young German played lights out tennis against the 37-year old Swiss star. Putting the pressure on when needing to and playing the tough points in an impressive manner. Zverev defeated Roger 7-5, 7-6(5) to make his way into the Finals and then win the Nitto ATP Finals against Novak Djokovic. 

“I must tell you I'm very proud that at 37 I'm still so competitive and so happy playing tennis. From that standpoint, as disappointed as I might be about this match, if I take a step back, I'm actually very happy about the season,” Roger said. “It's been a historic season in some ways. Got back to World No. 1. For me, that was a huge moment in my life, to be honest, in my career because I never thought I would get there again.”

Just one year after the first appearance of Roger Federer and the new Mercedes-Benz pickup at the Laver Cup, the next round of this successful collaboration continues the journey. The global sports icon and the X-Class come together in Roger Federer’s home country of Switzerland for the latest episode from Mercedes-Benz Vans. Federer has planned a practice day in Zurich but arrives to find that the gates of the tennis courts are locked. So the tennis star spontaneously propels into action with an alternative plan, jumps into the X-Class and goes into "training mode." Roger skillfully maneuverers the pickup through the narrow, winding alleyways and across the city's many bridges in search of the perfect and unorthodox training locations. The duo eventually find themselves in the city centre: Roger discovers obscure training tools such as carpets, bells and sacks of flour while utilizing the X-Class itself.

Roger Federer and Mercedes-Benz milestones
